algae

We are working with partners to develop advanced biofuels from photosynthetic algae that are compatible with today's gasoline and diesel fuels.

Electric car

Our new generation of separator films that can significantly enhance the power, safety and reliability of lithium-ion batteries — a breakthrough that could help usher in a new era for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Exxpro tire liners

Together with tire manufacturers, we have introduced a new tire lining technology that makes tires lighter and keeps them properly inflated longer — both of which contribute to greater fuel efficiency.

car

Bumpers, fuel tanks and other car parts made from advanced ExxonMobil plastics help reduce vehicle weight by about 10 percent, which can improve fuel efficiency by more than five percent.

Mobil 1 AFE

Our Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy is a synthetic motor oil that is expected to improve fuel economy by up to two percent* compared to those grades most commonly used.

man looking at internal combustion engine

ExxonMobil is collaborating with vehicle and engine manufacturers and others to develop breakthrough engine technologies that could produce step-changes in fuel efficiency and hold the potential to diversify energy sources for transportation.

hydrogen

We are working with partners to develop an on-vehicle hydrogen production system that converts conventional hydrocarbon fuels into hydrogen to power a fuel cell contained within the vehicle.
