Human rights

We are committed to promoting respect for human rights and to serving as a positive influence in the communities where we operate.

ExxonMobil formally documented our support of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights in 2005 through our Statement of Principles on Security and Human Rights.

ExxonMobil is committed to providing positive, productive and supportive work environments throughout its global operations.

Through consultations, we help to mediate concern and play a role in addressing special community needs, such as improving living standards, health care, skills development, housing, and other unique issues faced by the indigenous communities in which we operate.

We have been an active participant in the Voluntary Principles dialogue since 2002 and have worked extensively with other participants to devise criteria and procedures for expanding and carrying on the work of the Voluntary Principles.

Safeguarding company personnel and property is a priority, and must be done in a manner that complies with applicable laws and respects human rights.

Employee training is an important element of ExxonMobil’s effort to address human rights challenges facing our industry in general and specific operations in particular.
