Operating from its current address in Wills Street, Port Adelaide since May
1925, ExxonMobil’s Birkenhead Terminal stores and distributes petrol, diesel,
aviation fuel, heating oil and bulk lubricants for the South Australian market.
Birkenhead Terminal receives refined products by ship from ExxonMobil's
regional supply network. Bulk lubricants are supplied by truck from
ExxonMobil's Yarraville Terminal in Victoria.
Fuels and bulk
lubricants are distributed from Birkenhead by road and rail tanker. Every
year over 770 million litres of Mobil product, a significant proportion of
South Australia's demand, is delivered through distributors and contractors to
customers in metropolitan and regional parts of the State.
Since 1994 ExxonMobil has operated the fuel storage and truck load-out
facilities at Birkenhead Terminal jointly with Shell, who supply their own
refined products by ship into the terminal.
The Birkenhead
Terminal houses 25 refined product storage tanks with a bulk refined fuel
storage capacity of over 60 million litres. These tanks are located in the
"Tank Farm" on the northern side of the Terminal.
A further 19 smaller tanks, located on the southern side of the terminal, are
used for the storage of lubricant products.
At the terminal's
truck fill stand up to 6 trucks can be loaded simultaneously with the various
fuels stored in the tank farm.
Birkenhead Terminal
operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
