Adelaide: Mobil Oil Australia Pty Ltd
(Mobil) today confirmed that the three fuel companies - BP, Mobil and Shell -
which comprise the joint venture refueling operation at Adelaide Airport, have
given the all clear to the use of the new airport fuel hydrant system.
"Local and interstate Mobil personnel have been assisting Adelaide Airport
Limited and their contractors with the flushing and commissioning of the new
fuel system over the last several weeks. This process has taken a lot longer
than anyone anticipated but we are pleased to advise that the water and
sediment found in the new fuel lines has been cleaned out and the system is
now at an acceptable international standard and safe for use in refueling
aircraft," said Scott Harris, ExxonMobil Aviation Regional Operations Manager.
"Next week we expect to start using the new hydrant system for refueling
international flights, which are already operating from the new terminal,
while domestic operations will commence once they can be relocated to the new
terminal.
"At all times through this lengthy process the
principal concern of Mobil and the other joint venture fuel companies has been
to ensure that the new fuel hydrant system is safe for use. This is the very
least that would be expected of us by the traveling public and our airline
customers," said Mr Harris.
