The search for oil and gas is a highly specialised and technical activity that
draws on the world-wide expertise of ExxonMobil and uses the latest and most
sophisticated technology available. Exploration is responsible for conducting
geological and geophysical surveys to find commercial oil and gas and, if
successful, to assist in its production.
Graduate geologists
and geophysicists have the opportunity to develop their petroleum geoscience
skills across a broad range of technical disciplines.
Geoscientists in exploration mostly work as part of integrated,
multi-disciplinary teams that provide ample opportunity for individuals to
develop and apply a broad range of technical skills.
Tasks
undertaken by the geoscience teams include assessment of hydrocarbon systems
in sedimentary basins, seismic interpretation and mapping, drilling wells,
well log analysis and business planning and economic evaluations.
