Marg completed a Metallurgical Engineering degree at RMIT and started her career with ExxonMobil in the Inspection Engineering Group.

From starting out developing equipment integrity programs at our processing plants, to specifying down-hole equipment for offshore wells Marg moved into a variety of roles seeing her forecasting production and project economics for new offshore fields and liasing with joint venture partners on fields we participate in elsewhere in Australia.

“Being able to work across a wide variety of technical and non-technical roles is possible because of the significant training provided by the company, both in-house and externally.  Over my career to date, I have been able to attend over 25 technical courses, from Melbourne to Perth, Kuala Lumpur and Houston, as well as over 35 business and safety-related courses.  We are trained to high standards so that we are able to work and perform at a high standard.”

More recently, an important benefit to Marg of working for ExxonMobil has been the availability of flexible working arrangements.  Marg has three children and has been able to take both paid and un-paid parental leave and returned to work on a part-time basis.

“While at work, my children have attended the company sponsored child-care centre.  Also, as my specific job roles have allowed, I have also been able to work from home.  These flexible working arrangements, and the support of management has allowed me to continue in my career while fulfilling my personal and family goals.”
