Name: Dale University: UNSW
Course: Petroleum Engineering (Hons)
----------------------------------------------------
Dale is a Drilling Engineer and joined ExxonMobil in early 2007 after completing a Petroleum Engineering degree at UNSW. From as early as the first few weeks Dale was given a high level of responsibility which was paired with constant support from the experienced Engineers and Management in the Drilling team.
Although based in the Melbourne office, the life of a Drilling Engineer has been far from a regular desk job. Opportunities to travel to the rig site, third party workshops, or overseas occur regularly. In any given week Dale is likely to be working with people from all backgrounds; Geologists, Subsurface and Reservoir Engineers, rig site personnel and third party service providers.
“Working in Drilling at ExxonMobil has definitely been exciting and rewarding.”
“Since joining ExxonMobil in early 2007 I have not had a dull moment. Every week has brought new challenges and experiences to extend my abilities. Over the last year I have been given the opportunity to plan and drill a number of wells with two platform rigs operating in Bass Strait. I have also had the chance to support drilling operations in the Highlands of PNG, and have been involved in the planning of a future PNG development project.”
“In addition, the quality of the training has been truly first class, with instruction provided by ExxonMobil’s industry leading technical professionals.”
