Selection Process
As an outcome of this process, Esso Australia will be making employment offers to talented and highly motivated people seeking rewarding career opportunities.
Esso Australia is determined that these appointments are the right ones for you and for the company and consequently, the selection process is thorough and will take several weeks before employment offers are made. An outline of the selection process is detailed below to provide you with a guide of the steps involved.
Application
Please ensure you have prepared a resume that is current and complete. When ready to submit your application, click on the appropriate link (provided below) for the role of interest to you.
Once you have submitted your resume, you will receive an electronic acknowledgement confirming receipt of your application from our external recruitment service provider, Hays.
Interviews
After the nominated closing date, Hays and Esso Australia will review all of the applications for the respective positions. Should you be successful in securing an interview, you will be contacted to arrange a mutually convenient time for an interview.
Subsequently, you may be invited to attend further interviews where you will be introduced to other members of Esso Australia's selection team. This follow-up interview will present the opportunity to discuss the role in further detail and for Esso Australia to understand the skills and experience you will bring to the role.
If you have not been successful in securing an interview, you will receive a written notification from Hays advising you to this effect.
Background Checks, Antitrust & Competition Compliance & Maritime Security
Esso Australia has a policy to conduct police background and antitrust and competition compliance checks of individuals seeking employment with the company. In addition, recently introduced regulations require that all personnel entering designated Maritime Access Zones (which impact offshore platforms and other Esso installations) have appropriate security clearance. Should you advance to this stage of the selection process, Hays will send to you an Australian Federal Police (AFP) Form together with an Antitrust & Competition Law Compliance Guide and Maritime Security Identity Card Application which you will need to complete and return promptly.
Pre-Employment Medical
At an advanced stage of the selection process, you will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and Hays will organise this on your behalf with the most conveniently located of Esso Australia's preferred medical centres. Prior to attending the pre-employment medical, Hays will send to you Esso Australia's Health Questionnaire which you will need to complete in full and take with you to the medical appointment. Additional instructions will be provided at the time of medical confirmation with you.
Reference Checking
Hays will undertake reference checking on behalf of Esso Australia. Hays will request referee details from you together with your consent to approach your referees. Ideally, at least one of your referees should be someone who has directly supervised you in your recent career. It is recommended that your resume contains at least three suitable referee details before you send in your application.
Remuneration Discussion
As the process advances, Hays will contact you to clarify your existing remuneration and to provide guidance as to the level of remuneration you can expect when commencing as an Esso employee. It is important that this discussion takes place to ensure that the remuneration that may be offered to you meets your requirements.
Employment Offer
Should you be successful in the selection process, a verbal employment offer will be made to you. This verbal offer will be followed by a written offer that will be express mailed to you at your nominated address. --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Back to Job Descriptions
